MSE Halloween Trivia Night Knoxville, TN, October 22, 2026 ![]()
![]() The event is a community-building opportunity that includes undergraduate and graduate students, staff, faculty, alumni and friends of the MSE department. ![]() Five MSE juniors represented residents of the Hundred Acre Wood and a ninja visiting for tea and honey. ![]() Five MSE sophomores represented storybook characters like Corduroy Bear, Gretel, a vampire and a couple of Vols! ![]() Some teams spanned freshmen through juniors. ![]() Dr. Cothrine was perfecting his "evil eye" at the photographer, much to the delight of the pair of henchmen on the team. ![]() This team demonstrated the inter-cohort mentoring that bridges upperclassmen and lowerclassmen in MSE. ![]() We were so proud of this team who came to represent the MSE freshmen class. ![]() As always, MSE Halloween Trivia Night is a family affair. (All blame to the photographer's costume for scaring this poor child. His dad had the right idea in closing his eyes.) ![]() This team, dubbed Friendship is Magic embraced their inner ponies and invited a lone Sith Lord onto their team, which turned out to be very advantageous because his knowledge of the dark side (of trivia) was extensive. (Winged Olive was angelic as usual.) ![]() In case you were wondering, yes, there were also ferrets present. ![]() After the all-or-nothing bonus question, everyone in the classroom waited with bated breath for the results to be announced. ![]() With a brave gambit at the last moment, the team from the Hundred Acres Wood seized victory! (But did their triumph come at the expense of their MSE 301 project grade?) Congratulations to these juniors. ![]() MSE Halloween Trivia Night is presented by the MSE Ambassadors. The fearless leaders in this endeavor were our academic advisor for the MSE department, Laurel Harrison (right) and MSE Education Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator, Raven Malliett (left). Thank you, Laurel & Raven! And thanks to all in the MSE community who participated. Until next year! More photos on the Keffer research group site. |
