Materials Science & Engineering Industry Night Panel
Knoxville, TN, November 3, 2022

In collaboration with the local student chapter of Material Advantage, the MSE department hosted "Industry Night" with a panel of five recent (amazing) UTK MSE alumni who are working in industry across the country.

The three pillars of the MSE mentoring programs, MSE for Me (freshmen) and MSE CaReS (sophomores, juniors and seniors) are (i) social support, (ii) academic support and (iii) nutritional support. All three elements were present at the Industry Night Panel, where we began with a taco bar before moving to a community conversation with the panel.

About thirty students and faculty attended. We pan across the room in three photographs.

Our panelists took turns answering questions about how they were successful in finding and securing industrial internships and jobs. One recurring key was apply, apply and apply again, repeat one hundred times as necessary. We deeply appreciate the generosity of our alumni, sharing their time and experiences with their alma mater.

Thanks to all who attended. We hope to do it again next year.
