UT Center for Materials Processing and Oak Ridge Chapter of ASM Poster Session

The UT Center for Materials Processing and the Oak Ridge Chapter of ASM sponsored their annual research poster competition. Michael Broud, a sophomore in the UTK Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) department won first place in the undergraduate researcher category for his poster titled, "Investigation of Preferential CO2 Binding and Lignin-Derived Carbon Quantum Dots Through Molecular Dynamics Simulations". Michael is co-advised by Prof. David Keffer (MSE) and Prof. David Harper (Center for Renewable Carbon at the UT Institute of Agriculture).


Alex Greenhalgh, a junior in the UTK MSE department won second place in the undergraduate researcher category for his poster titled, "Assessment of Atomic Ordering in Alloys". Alex presented results from his recent paper (open access link), which was co-authored with Prof. David Keffer (MSE) and Prof. Orlando Rios, as part of the DOE Critical Materials Institute research effort at UTK, led by Prof. Rios.
