Materials Science & Engineering Industry Night Panel
Knoxville, TN, November 3, 2021

In collaboration with the local student chapter of Materials Advantage, the MSE department hosted "Industry Night" with a panel of five recent (amazing) UTK MSE alumni who are working in industry across the country.

The three pillars of the MSE mentoring programs, MSE for Me (freshmen) and MSE CaReS (sophomores, juniors and seniors) are (i) social support, (ii) academic support and (iii) nutritional support. All three elements were present at the Industry Night Panel, where we began with a taco bar, moved to a community conversation with the panel and ended with a short reflective discussion with faculty mentors.

Over thirty students and faculty attended.

Our panelists took turns answering questions about how they were successful in finding and securing industrial internships and jobs, as well as sharing some of their secret "go-to moves" for successful interviews. We deeply appreciate the generosity of our alumni, sharing their time and experiences with their alma mater.
