Hiking with Stephen Paddison |

Our colleague in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Dr. Stephen Paddision, visited us for a day of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We hiked to Rainbow Falls, a 2.7 mile trek over an altitude range starting at 2600 ft above sea level and terminating at 4100 ft. We saw a juvenile Black Bear at close range and one of the forty-odd species of salamanders that call the park home--a real treat. |
