Course Text Books

Beginning in Fall, 2016, the two required textbooks for MSE 301 are described below. They are written by the instructor and targeted for this class. By and large they contain the same material that is freely provided in the lecture notes page of the course website. The advantage of the having the books is that they provide a securely bound copy of the information for use during and after the course. The books are published by the Technical Branch of the Poison Pie Publishing House, operated by the author, in order to maintain both individual vision and flexibility. Self-publishing has the fortunate side-effect that it keeps costs to the student significantly lower than a text published through a traditional publishing house.
