This structure is one unit cell of a molecular sieve called zeolite-Y. Each cell contains 8 spherical cages in which fluids may adsorb. In the framework, the Silicon are grey and the Oxygen red. The green sphere indicates the center of a cage. The 4 pink spheres indicate the locations of the adsorption sites adjacent to rings of 6 oxygen in the framework. The 6 gold spheres indicate the locations of the adsorption sites adjacent to rings of 4 oxygen in the framework.
